Job description
BLS Educator The BLS Educator is responsible for delivering high-quality didactic and practical instruction in accordance with state, national, and program-specific standards. This position supports the preparation of students for National Registry and state certification and ensures a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment.
- Key Responsibilities Instructional Responsibilities Deliver lectures, labs, and scenario-based training following an approved curriculum.
- Teach and demonstrate skills aligned with the National EMS Education Standards and Pennsylvania guidelines.
- Evaluate student performance in both cognitive and psychomotor domains using written exams, skill sheets, and scenario assessments.
- Provide remediation and support to students as needed to ensure skill mastery.
- Prepare instructional materials, review lesson plans, and update content as required.
- Enforce program policies, safety standards, and professional conduct expectations.
- Participate in faculty meetings, in-service training, and continuing education as required.
- Course Coordination Responsibilities Assist with scheduling, classroom setup, lab logistics, and resource management.
- Maintain inventory of training equipment and supplies and report maintenance or replacement needs.
- Provide for testing coordination, including NREMT psychomotor exam setup and scheduling.
Qualifications
Current certification as a Pennsylvania EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic. EMS field experience at the EMT level or above. Certification as an EMS Instructor in Pennsylvania Current BLS Instructor certification from AHA (or obtained within 6 months of hire). Strong knowledge of EMS protocols, equipment, and evidence-based practice. Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs), perform skill demonstrations, and operate in classroom, lab, and field settings. Schedule Average of 36 hours per week May include evenings, weekend, or irregular hours depending on class schedules Travel to clinical sites, testing locations, or satellite campuses may be required Compensation This is a Full-Time FLSA non-exempt role, $30.00 per hour VMSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
