- Job Summary Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and general operation of high technology patient simulators, lower technology task trainers, clinical equipment, and related multimedia peripherals used in the training of healthcare professionals from all specialties.
- Demonstrates and/or teach technical aspects of operating the simulators and related equipment to center staff, faculty members, and others when appropriate.
- Assists educators with the development of customized simulation activities which enhance learning through the incorporation of appropriate simulation technologies.
- Assists with simulation related research efforts as designated.

- Assists faculty and other team members in the operational aspects of simulation.
- Designs, develops, implements and evaluates scenarios and educational material in collaboration with faculty, simulation center staff, and other users of the simulation center.
- Provides instructional tools and technical or administrative support to carry out simulation sessions; includes setting up the simulator, the rooms, and appropriate audio-video components for each session, and preparing educational material.
- Interfaces with the equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems as well as periodic upgrades.
- Maintains record of repairs.
- Performs required equipment maintenance and troubleshooting Performs and synthesizes literature searches, analyze and summarize relevant material, and maintains reference library of simulation articles.
- Generates innovative approaches for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
- Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree Experience - Two (2) years of experience in a related field such as nursing, emergency services, or respiratory therapy.
- In Lieu Of In lieu of the experience and/or educational requirements noted above an equivalent combination of work/academic/training experience may be considered (i.e., Six years of experience and a related clinical certification, such as RN, EMT, or RT license; OR Associate degree and four years of related work experience).
- Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification preferred.
- Must become BLS/ACLS certified within 1 year of employment.
- A valid driver’s license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart; and proof of auto insurance.

Customer service skills Knowledge of medical terminology Proficiency with PC based software applications (MS Office) and Internet navigation Proficiency in existing and emerging technologies including basic theory, design, and implementation. Ability to vary schedule and to work overtime, occasionally with minimal notice, as client activities dictate. Ability to operate high technology, electronic human patient simulators and low-tech task trainers or an aptitude to learn use and maintenance of specialized simulation and clinical equipment.
