Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to: Assists with all aspects of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes, Women’s basketball, and other sports teams as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director, Strength Performance. Maintains established goals to enhance nutritional, physical, and mental development. Collaborates with athletic training staff to monitor rehabilitation programs and develop post-rehabilitation programs. Tests and evaluates student-athletes to effectively monitor desired training outcomes. Mentors strength and conditioning interns and graduate assistants. Complies with all University and ASUN regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and ASUN rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Required Qualifications: This position requires either five years of directly related experience to the position or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions. Full-time professional athletic strength and conditioning experience in higher education athletics. Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Current certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification. Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the country. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Health Science, Biomechanics, Human Performance, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology or closely related field. One year full-time professional athletic strength and conditioning experience in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I institution. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity. Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams. Knowledge of exercise technique and instruction, functional training, nutritional planning, and proper exercise prescription. Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations and a strong commitment to maintain compliance with those rules and regulations. Knowledge of student-athlete intellectual, emotional and social development and an ability to guide athletes toward successful completion of an undergraduate degree while participating in intercollegiate athletics. Knowledge of and ability to administer first aid and CPR/AED. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and an ability to use independent judgment and remain flexible while prioritizing tasks. Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems. Ability to design and implement individual and group programs for all sports. Ability to operate within a team organizational structure. Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment. Ability to adapt quickly to changing student needs and maintain consistent communication with supervisors and support staff in Athletic Department.
