Job Summary The Student Support Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially. This position works closely with teachers, administrators, families, and service providers to develop and implement intervention strategies, coordinate Student Study Teams (SSTs), and support students with 504 Plans and other individualized supports. This role provides targeted small group instruction, assists students with learning and behavioral differences, and helps coordinate support systems to promote student success across the school environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide targeted academic support in small group or one-on-one settings, focusing on core areas such as reading, writing, and math. Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students needing intervention and help create support plans. Organize and facilitate Student Study Team (SST) meetings; track student progress and follow up on next steps. Coordinate and ensure compliance with 504 Plans, including documentation, accommodations, and communication with stakeholders. Monitor and document student progress; provide timely updates to teachers, administrators, and families. Support students with behavioral or social-emotional challenges through positive interventions and restorative practices. Assist in the development and facilitation of restorative circles and conflict resolution strategies.
- Provide support to students with learning differences and implement strategies that reinforce classroom instruction.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment aligned with HTH’s mission and values.
- Perform clerical duties including data entry, documentation, and communication logs.
- May require administering informal assessments or screenings to help determine instructional needs.
- As needed, communicate regularly and effectively with families, offering guidance on home support strategies.
- May be required to assist in making referrals to school counselors, social services, or mental health resources as needed.
- Participate in professional development and stay current on best practices in intervention and student support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: Minimum of 60 college units completed Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with children or youth, especially in a school or educational setting
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree Previous experience with SST, 504 Plans, and academic or behavioral interventions Familiarity with restorative practices and social-emotional learning strategies Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
