Dear Mrs. Okafor,
I am applying for the Lead Pre-K Teacher position at Riverbend Early Learning Center. I have led pre-kindergarten rooms for seven years, currently a state-funded classroom of twenty children with two assistants, and your posting's emphasis on developmental screening is what prompted this letter.
I moved from Head Start into district pre-K and kept the developmental screening routine that came with it, running it three times a year rather than once. It surfaced two speech referrals last autumn that would otherwise have waited until kindergarten.
Riverbend's posting says you are aligning screening across your rooms. Having carried one system into a setting that did not use it, I know the difficulty is not the instrument but getting consistent observation from every adult in the room.
I hold a Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate for Birth through Kindergarten, a Child Development Associate credential, and current Pediatric First Aid and CPR.
I would like to hear how the screening alignment is going and what the assistant staffing looks like next year. I am happy to meet at your convenience.
Sincerely, Tara Nguyen
