  • The Anesthesiology Resident TP
  • participates in structured programs to develop skills in the specialized area of anesthesiology and gain core competencies as prescribed.

  • FUNCTIONS: Receives a focused experience in regional anesthesia during the block rotation. Evaluates patient’s therapeutic plan under the supervision of senior residents and attending staff. Assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Starts IV’s and draws arterial and venous blood gases independently. Places central lines, arterial catheters, and chest tubes. Facilitates attending physician’s decisions regarding invasive procedures prior to initiation. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra, and post anesthesia. Takes into consideration age-specific issues to meet the needs of various patient groups. Maintains quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings, and in-services. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS M.D., D.O., or comparable degree in relevant field Certification in relevant specialty or field Minimum 2 years of experience Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
