Behavioral Health and Wellness Specialist

• Provides school-based early childhood mental health consultation services to children/families of children 0-5 enrolled in CII’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs.
• Works in collaboration with caregivers, teachers, family services workers, and home visitors to address mental health concerns that arise in the children serviced by our program.
• Service delivery may also include home based services through our Early Head Start home-based option.
• DUTIES SUMMARY Provides school-based early childhood mental health consultation services to children/families of children 0-5 enrolled in CII’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

• Early Childhood Education Mental Health Consultation Uses independent judgment and discretion to gather information, assess needs and formulate appropriate therapeutic interventions to be implemented with children referred for behavioral health consultation services.
• Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintains appropriate case notes and other records and prepares periodic reports as required.
• Facilitates reflective supervision with field staff and teachers in conjunction with Early Childhood mental health consultation.
• Participates in regular clinical supervision.
• Programmatic Consultation Observes early childhood settings to become familiar with the program offered to children.
• Provides consultation to center and or home based staff on programmatic practices that affect and promote the social emotional development of children enrolled.
• Meets regularly with the Early Childhood Services staff and the Site Supervisors to address programmatic concerns.
• Discusses effective mechanisms of working with parents.
• ADDITIONAL DUTIES Maintains up-to-date records.
• Provides training workshops on selected topics as needed.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
• QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A minimum of 2 years of experience as a classroom behaviorist specializing in work with young children 0-5 and their families.
• Master's degree in Behavior Science, Psychology or related field and advanced knowledge of child development and Behavior.
• OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
• Required to travel extensively (> 50% of the time).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience with assessment of young children’s social and emotional functioning.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of group dynamics and intervention with children.
• Ability to host reflective supervisions with individuals and groups.
• Familiarity with the EHS performance standards and CDE regulations.
• Maintains patient privacy, including protecting the confidentiality, safeguarding the integrity and availability, and limiting the use and disclosure of patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to authorized individuals and entities.
• Participates in, conducts, and sustains performance quality improvement activities according to designated role and responsibilities.
• Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
• Understands CII’s basic philosophy and participates fully in carrying out its mission.
• CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Licensure or registration with the Behavioral Science Board (LCSW, MFT) COMPUTER SKILLS Must have intermediate knowledge proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and E-mail.

• NOISE LEVEL Moderate noise REQUIRED TRAINING New Hire Orientation AB-1343: Sexual Harassment Prevention training Mandated Reporter CPR/First Aide COMPENSATION: $70,304.00 USD - $78,936.00 USD In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is included in this posting.
• The actual compensation will be determined based on factors permitted by law.
• New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to maintain internal inequity and allow opportunity for future salary growth.
• CII salaries are determined based on comprehensive internal and external market analysis, as well as the skills, education, and experience relevant to each position.
