- College: Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) is a junior college accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Through customized short-term programs, HTIC’s International Programs Department offers intensive English and cultural learning experiences for students of various ages and backgrounds.
Position Summary
HTIC seeks qualified ESL instructors to teach in short-term, customized programs. Appointments are casual, part-time, and vary in length (from a few days to eight weeks). Instruction schedules typically range from 90 minutes to 3 hours per day.
Responsibilities
Plan and teach ESL classes in areas such as conversation, reading, writing, culture, or English for specific purposes (e.g., business, nursing). Facilitate interactive, task-based learning experiences. Incorporate program objectives into lesson design and assessment. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure program quality. Support a multicultural classroom that respects linguistic and cultural diversity.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field. ESL teaching experience. Strong English communication skills (oral and written). Knowledge of ESL teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field. Experience teaching international students of different ages and backgrounds. Overseas or cross-cultural teaching/living experience. Familiarity with current TESOL trends and resources. Compensation & Details Pay Rate: $38/hour - $42/hour (based on completed educational degree) Schedule: Varies; mornings or afternoons depending on program needs. Travel Assistance: Not provided.
