The Academic Instructor provides individual and group instruction to help students improve their skills in various subjects. They manage classroom instruction while supporting student success and career readiness.
Description Provides individual and/or group instruction to help students improve skills in reading, mathematics, and other academic or life-skills courses. Teaches and manages classroom instruction while supporting student success, discipline, and career readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Teach classes in Reading, Mathematics, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards, Health Education, Driver’s Education, or HSD/HSE.
Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages motivation, discipline, and learning.
Build strong relationships with students and maintain effective classroom management.
Prepare lesson plans and use available curriculum resources.
Collaborate with career technical instructors to support curriculum development.
Track student attendance, progress, test scores, and performance.
Evaluate student academic and career success performance and provide regular feedback.
Support student achievement goals, including learning gains, certifications, and graduation.
Follow all policies, safety procedures, and required regulations.
Participate in required training, meetings, audits, and graduation activities.
Model and reinforce Career Success Standards and professional behavior.
Perform other assigned duties as needed.
· Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel. · Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat. · Strong knowledge of subject area of instruction and academic teaching practices. · High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. · High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and educate students effectively.
Experience Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.
Education Bachelor’s degree in education from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified to teach in state in which center is located. Valid State Driver’s License.
