The counselor is responsible for organizing basketball activities and ensuring a safe, risk-free environment for campers of all ages. Key duties include managing group behavior, communicating with parents, and maintaining sports equipment.
Candidates should ideally have a college degree and at least 5 years of camp or activity leadership experience. Proficiency in basketball rules and the ability to work in extreme weather conditions are required.
College degree preferred 5 years of camp experience/activity leadership – comprised of experience as a camper or a CIT, minimum 1-year experience as a Camp Counselor 3 years’ experience in activities – program creation, execution and hosting Must work well with varying age groups of children KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Exhibited leadership skills Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Additional language skill is a bonus Ability to multi-task Ability to work independently and in a team environment Basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools Able to work with multiple age-groups and in different environments (indoor, outdoor) While performing this role, this employee may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. move around with full use of limbs and use all five senses to complete his/her responsibilities. May work long hours for extended periods of time. Works in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat. Be able to move all type of basketball equipment, etc. Use of technology (cell phones, laptops, iPad, etc.) is prohibited during working hours WORK ENVIRONMENT: 8-week season contract: June 1st through July 24 Monday through Friday Expected 36 hours a week .
