About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses, either in-person or online, within the Department of History’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Applications are accepted throughout the year and considered as openings arise.

The Department of History (https://history.wvu.edu) at West Virginia University invites applications for Part-time Adjunct Teaching Positions.

Areas of need will be determined according to the needs of the department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in-person or online courses in the Department of History’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Applications will be accepted throughout the year and will be considered as openings arise.

Salary is established on a per-course basis.

These positions require a master’s or doctoral degree in History or a closely related discipline, along with evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Generally, individuals with a doctoral degree are eligible to teach graduate or undergraduate courses; individuals with a master’s degree are eligible to teach undergraduate courses. Please submit via PDF file (a) a letter of application summarizing your teaching qualifications, (b) your curriculum vitae, including professional certifications and professional experience, and (c) contact information for two individuals who can provide letters of recommendation.

Requirements

Applicants must possess a master’s or doctoral degree in History or a closely related discipline, along with demonstrated evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Doctoral degree holders can teach graduate or undergraduate courses, while master’s degree holders are generally limited to undergraduate courses.
