The instructor is responsible for creating and implementing the proper format for the assigned class while adhering to customer service standards. Primary duties include teaching classes tailored to participant abilities, providing leadership on proper form, preparing the room and equipment before class, and communicating necessary information to patrons.

Group Exercise Instructors must be able to work on their own without direction; must be able to address patron concerns from participants in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be certified as an Instructor through a nationally accredited association, in each of the class formats they teach (i.e. AFAA, ACE, YogaFit), as required. Must possess current CPR, AED, and First-Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
Group Exercise Instructors, as with all Park District employees, must believe in the Gurnee Park District mission and philosophy and work as a team member of the Gurnee Park District Fitness Staff.

DEMANDS: 100% of your time will be on your feet teaching classes and providing instructions to group exercise participants. This is an active position. Lifting is a requirement in terms of demonstrating use of equipment and providing demonstrations for customers of how to use various fitness equipment within your own weight limitations. Occasional lifting of boxes with supplies, equipment, or promotional items which are typically around 25 lbs.
