JOB GOAL

The Specialist Teacher (K-8) is responsible for supervising, educating, and supporting students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks. The Specialty Teacher will plan lessons to target specific skills and concepts, manage classroom behavior and keep students engaged in the lessons.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Universal’s curriculum and instructional strategies andutilizeclassroom routines and procedures with consistency.
  • Develop rigorous lesson plans, homeworkassignmentsand assessments.
  • Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
  • Form andmaintainrelationships with students’ families, including phone calls and conferences.
  • Participate inon-goingprofessional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Perform related work asrequired.

Requirements/Qualifications

Certification: Valid PA Certification in area of specialty

Education: Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience as a teacher in an urban environment.
  • Acceptable criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
