The Role Joy Summer Camp Counselors support the daily experience of scholars by leading enrichment activities, supporting academic classrooms, and helping create a joyful, safe, and well-supervised summer environment. This role is ideal for energetic, dependable, and youth-centered team members who enjoy working with children and contributing to a positive school culture.

Camp Counselors are not responsible for delivering core academic instruction, but they play a critical role in scholar supervision, engagement, and enrichment.

Key Responsibilities Enrichment & Activities Lead 60-minute enrichment lessons and activities (e.g., arts, movement, games, STEM, team-building) Prepare simple materials and activities in advance Ensure activities are engaging, structured, and age-appropriate Classroom & Academic Support Support summer school teachers during academic learning blocks Work with small groups or individual scholars as directed Help distribute materials and maintain organized learning spaces Supervision & Safety Supervise scholars during transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal Chaperone field trips and off-campus activities Maintain active supervision at all times Culture & Relationships Build positive relationships with scholars Reinforce expectations and school rules Model kindness, patience, and professionalism

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required Experience working with children preferred (camp, childcare, tutoring, babysitting, youth programs, etc.) Reliable, punctual, and responsible Positive attitude and willingness to learn Able to follow directions and collaborate with teachers and staff
