This position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction, and management of a class of children aged 3 to 5 years old, ensuring their safety and growth physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. Duties include preparing engaging, hands-on lesson plans consistent with themes, maintaining classroom order, and adhering to schedules and assessment requirements.
Candidates must pass mandatory fingerprinting and DCF background screening processes, possess experience working with learners, and must have 45 hours of DCF training. A degree in Early Childhood is preferred but not required, though having a CDA or actively working towards one is necessary for this role.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to: To keep the learners safe at all times; must be familiar with all emergency procedures and aware of special conditions for the learners within the school. Communicate to the Director any challenges, concerns, and solutions you may have. Help provide and maintain an environment in which the learner may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. Prepare engaging, hands-on lesson plans that encourage growth and that go along with monthly and weekly themes. Responsible for schedules and procedures for your classroom. Learning experiences should be consistent and follow the order of the unit/theme. The teacher must follow a posted schedule and utilize the Early Learning Coalition Assessment checklist to ensure all required areas are being met. Remember that each learner is an individual whose talents, interests, and pace of learning differ. Treat the learner with dignity and respect while encouraging independence. Implement the school's chosen behavioral system consistently and fairly. Maintain a professional attitude at all times. Keep rooms neat, orderly, and clean. Attend all staff meetings and school programs. Participate in recommended training programs and courses—complete 25 hours of in-service annually between July 1 and June 30. Conduct parent conferences as needed. See the Director beforehand to review what will be discussed. Be loyal to the school at all times. Lead by example - Training up assistants to take lead roles and make our school stronger. Serve as the point person for the 3–4-year-old teaching team. Ensure all activities in the Pre-VPK program are age-appropriate. Oversee the completion of monthly and weekly assessments by assigned teachers. REPORTS TO Director
All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the Clearinghouse. MUST pass the DCF background screening process.
