The K-12 Due Process Specialist serves as an interim case manager for initial evaluations and ensures due process compliance. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data, assisting case managers, and supervising student activities.
Candidates must hold a current MN teaching license in special education and have at least 3 years of teaching experience. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a school environment are essential.

HCPA is a Title I Charter School that serves students through a school-wide plan for instruction that is focused on the needs of at-risk students. The K-12 Due Process Specialist works closely with the Senior Special Education Manager to ensure due process compliance, providing clerical and other support, such as working with student records, due process documents, and miscellaneous reporting and tracking.
Serve as interim case manager of initial evaluations by coordinating and overseeing the process of conducting initial evaluations for students referred for special education services. This includes: Gathering, interpreting, and analyzing data from a variety of sources, including observations, assessments, and input from teachers, parents, and service providers. Evaluation reports will meet IDEA, state, and district compliance requirements. Assist case managers with meeting due process timelines and compliance standards as outlined by the Minnesota Department of Education. This may include completing portions of or all parts of due process documents to meet due process timelines and compliance requirements. Assist with reviewing outgoing due process documents and give feedback to case managers where needed to reflect program changes based on IEP team discussions. Verifies all new and upcoming special education student records; verifies all students have an IEP, evaluation, and due process file; notes compliance concerns. Supervise student activities, which may include: Bus duty – assist with walking students to the busses at the end of the day Breakfast and/or lunch duty – assist with monitoring based on a rotational schedule Other related duties as assigned Accountabilities Adhere to MN Teachers Code of Conduct Supports school goals and objectives consistent with the vision, mission, and values of HCPA. Responds appropriately and promptly to parent, student, and staff member needs. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding students and the educational setting. Engagement Activities
Volunteer activities 3 HCPA volunteer activities are required. These events take place outside of the traditional school day. Teachers may select the activities that fit best with their interests and student grade level. These activities may include open houses, school dances, prom, concerts, etc
