The School Psychologist is responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological services across Early Head Start, Head Start, and special education programs, working collaboratively with staff and families to support student success. Key duties include coordinating and administering various achievement and diagnostic tests, managing all aspects of Committee on Special Education (CSE) procedures, record keeping, and providing staff training when necessary.
Description This candidate is responsible for the overall delivery of mental health services in the Early Head Start, Head Start, and special education programs. The School Psychologist will work collaboratively with teachers, administration, families, and related services personnel to help students succeed in the school environment.
Responsible for the delivery of psychological services to all children within the educational setting. Coordinate and supervise school wide individual achievement tests of all children utilizing teachers, teacher assistants and Lab personnel. Recommend and administer appropriate tests for children who enter the Program between testing times. Recommend and administer test to diagnose a particular disability in a particular academic area. Recommend and administer appropriate tests to diagnose a particular social pattern. Responsible for knowledge of all regulations and CSE procedures as mandated by New York State. Responsible for proper scheduling and notification of CSE meetings on all students. Notify school secretary to notify parents of CSE meetings. Upkeep of CSE records and proper reporting to necessary State/school agencies. Responsible to ascertain that all material presented for CSE meetings is updated and timely, (meeting all State/local regulations). Responsible to notify the appropriate departments of CSE recommendations for therapy and for special services. When necessary, administers psychological tests to assigned clients in a timely manner. After an initial period to assess needs of Program, begin to work with individual teachers on matters of concern. Present relevant workshops/lectures to education staff upon request. Relate programmatic problems/concerns to the Center director.
