Faculty

Maternal Child Health Nursing Specialist and Medical-Surgical / Long-term Care Nursing Specialist Bargaining Unit/Salary Level: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit. Salary Range ($42,767.86-$54,177.05). Benefits include Retirement choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePers) or Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) - in lieu of Social Security; full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of cost for dependent coverage; life insurance paid by the MCCS; Personal 2 days/year; Sick 9 days/year; and paid holidays.

Responsibilities

The nursing faculty responsibilities include teaching assigned didactic lectures, lab, and clinical rotations in maternal-child health/pediatrics and elder/medical-surgical nursing. Other responsibilities include the coordination of outpatient pediatric health experiences, lab, and simulation instruction. Nursing faculty members participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and other activities pertinent to program accreditation. Faculty serve as advisors to nursing students and are active members of assigned College committees.

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing, with a willingness to enroll in and obtain a master’s degree in nursing, as well as an unencumbered Maine RN license. The successful applicant must have 3–5 years of experience in the practice of maternal-child/pediatric/OB nursing and medical surgical and/or long-term care nursing. Teaching experience is preferred. Demonstrated professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative work style are essential. The applicant must meet clinical facility immunization requirements.
