The Cheer Coach is responsible for providing safe, effective, and fun cheer instruction while supervising participants and maintaining a clean, safe environment under the direction of the Sports or Branch Director. This role also involves enhancing program quality, participant retention, and adhering to the YMCA's Christian mission.
Part Time Under supervision of the Sports Director or Branch Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Cheer Coach is responsible for instructing safe, effective and fun cheer classes, as well as enhancing the quality and growth of the program and retention of the participants in the cheer program.
Provide safe and effective instruction in the class format scheduled.
Supervise and guide the participants through cheer instruction. Be aware of the various abilities of the participants.
Provide a safe and clean environment by keeping area clean and free of obstacles.
Report to supervisor any equipment that is not working properly. Describe what the problem is and when it happened.
Know and follow emergency procedures as situations warrant. Incident forms should be completed for any injuries received during class
Start and finish classes on time. If unable to teach a scheduled class, instructor will find a substitute to cover classes.
Appropriate music and clothing. Music selections should not contain offensive language.
Greet each participant. Name recognition is important in making the participant feel welcome.
Attend scheduled staff meetings and special events.
Communicate schedules and updates with parents in a kind and professional manner.

Candidates must possess knowledge of dance/cheer programs and be willing to obtain CPR/AED certification within one month of hire.
