Position Summary

The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that supports the physical, social, and moral development of all students. The successful candidate will promote a positive learning environment that integrates Catholic values and emphasizes respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, and stewardship of the human body.

  • Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a structured K–8 physical education curriculum that aligns with the mission and philosophy of Catholic liberal education.
  • Teach fundamental skills in movement, fitness, and sports while fostering teamwork, perseverance, and respect for others.
  • Integrate Catholic principles and virtues into physical education instruction and classroom management.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Assess and document student progress in accordance with school policies.
  • Coordinate school-wide physical activities and events such as field days, tournaments, or intramural programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the holistic formation of students.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community activities.
  • Demonstrate a professional commitment to the mission and identity of the school and the Diocese.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Prior teaching experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.
