Schedule
Mid August through Mid June., Monday – Friday, approximately 40 hours, weekly. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs. This is a temporary, benefitted position, scheduled through June 2027. Communication about potential extension or permanence will be made prior to the end of term.

Position purpose
This position assists and supports the classroom teachers in creating a warm and caring environment for young children.
- Job responsibilities
- Interacts with children in a warm, nurturing way while providing an appropriate adult role model.
- Models, articulates, and encourages cooperative behavior among the children.
- Resolves problems or concerns that may arise with children or parents in conjunction with the teachers and Director.
- Supports the teaching team and the childcare center activities in a timely, caring and professional manner.
- Supervises all activities indoors and out in order to ensure the safety and the well-being of each child.
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment and materials and ensures the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas.
- Changes diapers and clothing following center protocol.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Position requirements
- Education
- At least nine credits required, twelve preferred, in early childhood education/development, including at least one three-credit course in child growth and development from an accredited college preferred.
- Must have CPR and First Aid training or be willing to get certification.
- Experience
- Experience with infants, toddlers, and pre-school and kindergarten age children required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience in an institutional or campus setting
- Physical requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift children in carriers and push/pull heavy strollers and wagons as well as stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.
