The Teacher Assistant assists the Head Start Teacher in delivering the classroom curriculum and ensures that the classroom environment is conducive to learning. They maintain supervision of children at all times and build positive relationships with students.
A High School Diploma or GED with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is required, while an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Previous classroom experience and fluency in English and Spanish are desirable.
The Teacher Assistant (including substitutes and floaters) assists the Head Start Teacher in delivering the classroom curriculum in accordance with Head Start regulations, licensing, and guidelines, and will use agency standards to ensure that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. Ensures the classroom is one in which children are aware of expectations, provided with rules, maintain consistency; while building a positive relationship with students which focuses on positive communication, appropriate physical proximity, respect, positive discipline, and guidance. Maintain supervision of children at all times.
Qualifications: Education Required
High School or better in Early Childhood Education.
Associates or better in Early Childhood Education.
