You will oversee student-led hygiene services at our Houston campus, ensuring that every patient receives high-quality care while every student achieves the clinical proficiency needed to excel in the field.
Essential Functions • Clinical Supervision
- Oversee and evaluate students in clinical and preclinical settings using established rubrics and competency assessments to ensure patient safety and skill mastery.
- Chairside
- Instruction: Provide real-time guidance on instrumentation, radiography, restorative functions (as permitted by TX state law), infection control, and patient management.
- Process of
- Care: Assist students in developing comprehensive treatment plans and implementing the professional dental hygiene process of care.
- Documentation &
- Tech: Accurately track student progress in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and institutional assessment platforms.
- Compliance
- Leadership: Strictly enforce and reinforce OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and institutional safety protocols.
- Professional
- Calibration: Participate in regular faculty calibration meetings to maintain consistent grading and clinical expectations across the Albuquerque program.
- Student
- Advocacy: Provide tutoring assistance and collaborate with the Student Services Coordinator for students requiring specialized support or remediation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in dental hygiene from an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA.
- Accreditation: Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time clinical experience as a dental hygienist.
- Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current New Mexico dental hygiene license and all required certifications (including CPR).
- Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and dental software (Dentrix/Eaglesoft preferred).
