Dental Hygiene Clinic Instructor

Pima Medical Institute - San Antonio Campus | On-Site

Position Type: Part-Time (12–16 Hours/Week) | Day Shift

Compensation

$31.00 – $38.75 per hour

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Dental Hygiene Clinic Instructor to join our San Antonio campus. In this role, you will transition from private practice to the clinical classroom, overseeing student-led hygiene services while ensuring patient safety and student clinical proficiency in accordance with PMI curriculum standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate students using established rubrics, checklists, and competency assessments in clinical and preclinical settings.
  • Provide real-time chairside guidance on dental hygiene procedures, instrumentation, radiography, restorative functions (per Texas law), infection control, and patient management.
  • Guide students in developing treatment plans and implementing the professional dental hygiene process of care.
  • Accurately track student progress in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and institutional assessment platforms.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and institutional safety protocols.
  • Supervise patient care during medical emergencies within the clinic.
  • Provide tutoring and remediation support; refer students to the Student Services Coordinator for specialized needs.
  • Participate in faculty calibration meetings and collaborate with the Clinic Coordinator and Clinical Director on clinic operations.
  • Assist in maintaining clinic equipment and supplies; contribute to program outcomes assessment and accreditation activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an institution recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA.
  • Graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed dental hygienist.
  • Current Texas Dental Hygiene License and all required certifications including CPR/BLS.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other computer applications.
  • Documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments.
  • Previous experience with Dentrix and/or Eaglesoft preferred.
