The instructor is responsible for planning and implementing group exercise classes according to format, level, and description, while also acting as an ambassador for health and wellness in the community. They must promote the Park District's fitness program and maintain a clean, tidy class environment.
Applicants must hold a current nationally recognized group exercise and/or personal training certification, along with any necessary specific format certifications like Zumba or Yoga. Candidates must also maintain CPR and First Aid certifications and demonstrate the ability to modify exercises for different fitness levels.
The group fitness instructor is responsible for planning and implementing group exercise classes.
· Plan and instruct classes based on format, level and class description · Represent the Park District as an ambassador of health and wellness in the community · Promote the Park District’s group fitness program and its instructor team · Must be a reliable team player who values continuing education and willing to evolve with the fitness industry
· Instruct a variety of group exercise classes · Knowledge of fitness equipment · Arrive to class 15 minutes early to prepare and setup · Communicate to supervisor and front desk staff about cancelled or postponed classes · Maintain a clean and tidy room including the equipment
