About the Program

The Home for Little Wanderers' school, Clifford Academy in Walpole, MA, is seeking a Teaching Assistant. Clifford Academy serves students who have educational, emotional, and behavioral challenges that cannot be adequately addressed in a traditional public school environment. Individualized education plans vary depending on the specific needs and strengths of each student.

How You Will Be Making A Difference

  • Classroom Competency
  • Clifford Academy Teaching Assistants (TA) provide rehabilitative assistance for students who require social and/or behavioral support during the school day.
  • Support Clifford Academy teachers as they create an environment where standards for classroom behavior are clear and consistent.
  • Assist Clifford Academy teachers to provide consistent routines for managing all parts of students’ independent and group work.
  • Assist Clifford Academy teachers to monitor learning progress closely and maintain records of students’ performance.
  • Establish and model appropriate working relationships with Clifford Academy students.
  • Collaborate with Clifford Academy teachers and administrators to manage student behavior within school and classroom structures.
  • Actively engage in supervision and demonstrate openness and action to feedback.
  • Support/Professionalism
  • Complete paperwork consistently, professionally, and in a timely manner
  • Attend regular meetings with a problem-solving mindset and actively contribute during meeting time
  • Support and help members of the Clifford Academy staff

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 48 credits in education or human service field of study (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Respond positively and appropriately to direction and feedback
  • Satisfactory completion of TCI Training required.
  • Preferred driving record that allows for the transportation of students in school transportation
