Position Summary
- The Rec-Plex Sharks are seeking a dedicated Assistant Swim Coach specializing in swimmers ages 10 and under to join our competitive coaching staff. This position focuses on developing young swimmers through instruction in proper stroke technique, fundamentals of racing, and positive team habits appropriate for their age and skill level. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Head Group Coach to support group practices, evaluate developing swimmers, and help create a positive and encouraging environment for athletes and their families. The preferred start date for this position is April. Normal Shift: Varies Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, instruction, and operation of the Rec-Plex Sharks USA Swim Team and instructional swimming programs
- Provide age-appropriate coaching focused on stroke development, fundamentals, and racing skills for swimmers ages 10 and under
- Assist with group practices, swimmer development, and skill progression
- Foster positive relationships with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaching staff
- Monitor activities in assigned practice areas to ensure safety and proper conduct
- Maintain attendance records and assist with swimmer evaluations and group placement
- Assist in developing practice schedules and workouts for swim team groups
- Address and resolve questions or concerns from swimmers, parents, and residents in a professional manner
- Support the coordination and operation of swim team activities and events
- Maintain safe and organized conditions in aquatic program areas
- Stay current with trends and best practices in aquatics and youth coaching
- Attend team meetings and assist with program planning as needed Qualifications or Desired Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
