Job Description

SUMMARY

Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of part time faculty to perform tasks which support advancement of the visions, missions, and values of the colleges and District. Part time faculty have responsibilities in regards to their classroom assignment, evaluation of students, curriculum, student advising, professional development, and any assignment-specific needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities, Special Education, Education, Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Educational or School Psychology, Counseling, or Rehabilitation Counseling and fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of learning disabilities, to include, but not limited to adult cognitive and achievement assessment, OR
  • The equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Current certification in the Learning Disabilities Eligibility and Services Model (LDESM) of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

Working conditions

Faculty positions may require long periods of standing and walking in a typical classroom setting. Specific conditions may vary by subjects taught.

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District provides an optional part time faculty benefits program, and membership in the State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS) or the Pension Eligible Alternative Retirement (PEAR) Plan.

Requirements

A Master's Degree in relevant fields is required, along with fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in learning disabilities. Equivalent qualifications may be considered with the appropriate documentation.
