Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Head Coach, the Seasonal Assistant Coach helps the Head Coach in the daily operation of the Football program.
  • The Seasonal Assistant Coach is expected to mentor student athletes to reach their full potential both academically and athletically.
  • All coaches are responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive athletic program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship.
  • This position will assist in the recruiting of potential student athletes and provide complementary management of the program including practice, competitions, travel, purchasing and other duties as assigned.
  • The Seasonal Assistant Coach will adhere to all departmental, institutional, conference, NCAA and all other required regulations and policies.
  • The Seasonal Assistant Coach assists in all aspects of recruiting potential student athletes in order to maintain a team that will compete.
  • The Seasonal Assistant Coach maintains knowledge of all institutional and Conference rules and regulations for recruiting.
  • The Seasonal Assistant Coach assists in the overall management of the programs as directed by the head coach (travel, practice, competition, equipment, video, etc.) but will have specific responsibilities in athletics also as directed by the Head Coach.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in the organization of practice plans and competitions; communicates and assists in demonstrating specific required football skills.
  • Assist and lead the football team as assigned by the Head Coach in training and competition, including demonstrating sport skills, and educating students through drills, physical conditioning, organized play, mental training, team strategy, team meetings, coach-player discussions, and other activities.
  • Participate in recruitment activities as assigned.
  • Adheres to all institutional, Conference and all other rules, regulations and policies.
  • Assists in preparing training sessions, including strength and conditioning.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required or combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 1-year previous collegiate football coaching and/or football playing experience at the Collegiate level required.
  • Must possess excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess excellent computer and social media skills
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background check and the annual NCAA Coaches’ recruiting test.

Physical Demands Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), running, walking, bending, andcarrying. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle orfeel. Position requires being outdoors in all types of weather conditions, as is typical for outdoor sports.
