The clinical documentation specialist supports providers through education, training, and ongoing support regarding condition identification, documentation, and coding to ensure compliance with cms guidelines. This role involves conducting chart reviews, audits, developing improvement plans, and building collaborative relationships with clinical staff.
Requirements summary
Success in this role requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-Paced environment, with flexibility to travel as needed. A bachelor's degree is highly preferred, along with an active rn license or foreign medical graduate md, and cpc or crc certification is required or obtainable within six months.
