About the role

Adjunct instructors are responsible for teaching undergraduate level courses, requiring knowledge of appropriate instructional strategies and techniques. They must also be able to instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students, as well as write effective syllabi.

Job Summary

The School of Theology and Christian Ministry is accepting applications for an adjunct pool in Christian Ministry for the Fall 2026 semester. As specific needs for adjuncts are not always known, applicants who meet the initial review for qualifications will be placed into an adjunct pool for consideration as positions become available. An email will be sent to notify you of your pool status.

Salary

PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $4,456 - $6,684. The units will determine the actual salary.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Adjuncts must have knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching undergraduate level courses. Adjuncts are also expected to have knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students as well as the ability to write syllabi.

Qualifications

  • Masters in a specified discipline from an accredited university or seminary. Doctorate preferred.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence required.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated Christian faith life and involvement in a local Christian church.
  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZmOTNAu3LrAlvCmTrjPilgwdBZBBFlRz/view?usp=sharing].
  • The job offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check. PLNU will consider qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local "Fair Chance" laws.

Special instructions

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Please realize that there may not presently be an adjunct position available. When an opening becomes available for which you would be a good match, the department chair will be in contact with you for further dialogue, interviews, etc.

Approved applicants will remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year only. To be reconsidered for the following school year, applicant will need to reapply. If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
