Responsibilities

The ESOL Instructor is responsible for creating lesson plans and directly teaching adults who speak English as a second language, utilizing a comprehensive curriculum. They assess students using standardized tools to determine their English language proficiency level and make appropriate adjustments by moving them between levels. The instructor networks within Catholic Charities and with external service providers to offer referrals that meet the needs of program participants and promote program objectives. Timely record-keeping is essential to meet funding source guidelines. They supervise and provide guidelines to staff and volunteers, recruit and evaluate program participants, monitor their progress, and make recommendations for appropriate classes. The instructor maintains accountability for all participants, staff, and volunteers, serves as a professional role model, and collaborates effectively with other project staff. Compliance with funding source guidelines and Catholic Charities policies and procedures is consistently maintained. This is a Full Time Position, Pay for this Position is $23.00 Per Hour.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: TESOL degree, and/or TESOL certification from a state licensing agency Minimum of two years of experience in TESOL instruction in a classroom setting with a structured curriculum Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S.
