Lower School Hebrew and Judaic Studies Teacher

The Leffell School is a cutting-edge K–12 Jewish independent school serving more than 850 students on two campuses in Westchester County, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City. We are seeking a Lower School Hebrew Teacher.

Position Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Hebrew Teacher who will engage and inspire students, foster strong communication with parents and colleagues, and contribute to our mission of developing students to become responsible, honest, compassionate, and respectful citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Hebrew and Judaic Studies using a center/station-based approach to education with the use of blended learning.
  • Engage students in learning beginning Hebrew conversation, Jewish holiday celebrations, weekly Torah portions, and Tefilah.
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to motivate students and meet the needs of the students’ in classrooms.
  • Select and use instructional methods and materials appropriate to the students and learning activities encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities.
  • Observe, evaluate, and record children’s social and academic progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Native/Near Native Hebrew language abilities
