The Family Teacher provides direct care and implements individualized treatment plans for youth in a residential setting. They are responsible for daily teaching of life skills, maintaining a structured environment, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to support resident needs.
Candidates should have a minimum of a high school diploma and one year of experience working with children, though a bachelor's degree is preferred. A valid driver's license and the ability to meet specific age and background requirements are mandatory.
Job Title: Family Teacher (Direct Care Worker Anchor House)
Bachelor degree in social sciences, education or related field from accredited institution preferred and minimum of one year of experience working with children; or a similar combination of education and experience. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency and minimum of one year of experience working with children required. Experience in Teaching-Family Model preferred. A valid SC driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required. Due to SC DSS requirements, applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age.
Through use of the Family Teaching Model, the Family Teacher applies his or her knowledge, training and experience to recommend and execute individualized treatment for each resident and a therapeutic daily schedule that meets the needs of all residents. This includes ensuring compliance with organization policy and procedures. This full-time, salaried (exempt) position requires flexibility but typically requires working an “eight days on, six days off” (Monday to Monday) schedule (12 hour shifts 10 A to 10 P Monday - Sunday with transition meeting the next Monday morning). During the eight work days’ staff is typically required to sleep over the weekend at the residence.
