Duties and Responsibilities
Patrol campus premises via vehicle, foot, or bicycle to deter crime and enforce parking policies. Engage with individuals on campus to ensure they have legitimate reasons for being on university property. Conduct regular checks of buildings and grounds to maintain safety and security. Respond to calls for service, incidents, accidents, and potential crimes. Document incidents and conduct follow-up investigations as needed. Assist with crowd control and traffic management during university events. Collaborate with other campus departments and emergency services to provide support and assistance.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED with at least one year of safety/security experience or equivalent training. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Clear and effective communication abilities, both oral and written. Ability to remain composed and diffuse tense situations. Quick and objective decision-making skills. Familiarity with investigative procedures and documentation. Proficiency in computer operations. Oregon DPSST certification as an unarmed private security professional (or obtainable within 90 days). First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or obtainable within 90 days). Valid Oregon driver's license with a good driving record. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. Capable of constant observation, communication, and physical exertion. Comfortable with lifting up to 100 pounds, operating vehicles, and being at risk for bodily harm in the line of duty.
