Tutors support student-athletes in their pursuit of academic excellence, graduation, and attainment of independent learner status. In short, tutors provide content expertise and serve as a model for student-athletes in the techniques, strategies, and beliefs that successful learners employ as they acquire new knowledge, solve problems and complete academic tasks.

- Duties and
- Responsibilities of the
- Position: Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing what will be accomplished during each session. This includes text review and strategy instruction; Begin all sessions punctually, use time for academic tasks, and focus on the student's needs; Attend all scheduled sessions. The Tutor Coordinators must be notified 24 hours in advance prior to any canceled sessions; Attend and participate in discussions and follow-up meetings for tutors as scheduled by the Learning Services Staff; Communicate student progress by completing tutor summary reports at the end of each session; Participate as a member of the staff "Learning Community" by working to solve student problems and developing improved tutoring techniques; Serve as an "expert learner" model for student-athletes; Teach learning strategies to student-athletes; Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to academic progress and/or personal information concerning student-athletes; Attend and participate in required Learning Services meetings and trainings.
- QualificationsRequired
- Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a B- or better in the subject(s) tutored; Available to tutor in-person a minimum of ten hours each week at the Kansas Athletics tutoring center; Maximum of 20 for international students; Maximum of 29 hours for students and non-students; Non-English-speaking applicants must have taken and passed the English proficiency examination. **Please upload your resume and your advising report/unofficial transcript with your application**

Experience in tutoring and/or teaching; Available to work consistent hours during the week (mornings, afternoons and/or evenings per the tutoring center hours noted above; Working knowledge of Canvas, Microsoft Office, and Google drive
