- Main Campus - Jacksonville, FL 32217QualificationsDepartment Status Sports and Recreation Class Rate/Hourly; Part-time Summary PE Sports Specialists must have a passion for working with children, a strong understanding of basic techniques of their sport, and the ability to create a fun and safe environment for learning. This role also includes assisting with the pick-up and drop-off of children throughout our building, ensuring their safety from arrival to departure.

- Classes: Plan, organize, and teach engaging classes that focus on fundamental skills.
Supervision
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children throughout the class, maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment.
- Pick-Up &
- Drop-Off: Assist with safely picking up and dropping off children before and after classes, following all safety protocols and ensuring punctuality.
- Class
- Management: Monitor class participation, adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles, and maintain a positive and fun atmosphere.
Communication
- Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding children’s progress, class schedules, and any other relevant information.
- Facility
- Safety: Inspect equipment and the facility regularly to ensure everything is safe and in good working condition.
- Child
- Engagement: Build rapport with students, encouraging them to develop a love for sport while fostering self-confidence and teamwork. Attend staff, committee and special event meetings/and/or events as assigned. Education and/or Experience Previous experience in coaching or teaching, especially at a beginner level. Comfortable working with children of various ages, with strong patience and effective communication skills. CPR/First Aid Certified. Language Skills Ability in English to communicate verbally and in writing to members and staff. Write reports and maintain records and documents; and write promotional materials. Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics and proposals. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures, compute percent and proportions. Reasoning Ability General intelligence and decision-making skills. Creative thinking, implementation and promotion of new and existing programs. Other Skills and Abilities Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a group setting. Integrate safety compliance within the gym area. Must have already stated the ability to learn and gain knowledge on how to improve and implement the curriculum and apply it to any age participant. Physical Demands Requires long periods of standing or sitting. Moderate use of computer terminal screen, right or left hand use, typing. Grasping and gripping movements Ability to lift 50 lbs. Some lifting may require additional assistance from another staff person. Employee expected to use discretionary judgment and ask for assistance from another employee if an item is perceived to be too heavy to lift without assistance. Use of personal safety equipment required. Continuous exposure to moderate to loud noise. Occasional exposure to bodily fluids. Occasional lifting, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
