Position Title
Adjunct Instructor of Nursing Posting Date Spring 2022 and continuously Hours Per Week Not to exceed 83 hours per month Job Type Adjunct Instructor Position Purpose Under the general direction of the Course Coordinator of the course for which the individual is employed, Adjunct Faculty will be responsible for facilitating the education of nursing students. This requires that Adjunct Faculty assume responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating content for specific nursing courses or clinical experiences Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities Utilize a model of student-driven education by guiding individual development of students; collaborate with students to develop learning experiences and create an environment that focuses on learning. Design courses &/or clinical learning experiences that are dynamic, flexible, and meet the needs of diverse student populations. Focus on student learning outcomes and accountability. Maintain clinical and teaching competence. Serve as a role model of professional nursing for students and colleagues. Maintain appropriate professional affiliations. Create a positive environment for student learning. Provide timely written feedback on students’ performance and notify the Course Coordinator of any problems. Maintain professional, legal, and ethical standards for the practice of nursing. Experience Required: Clinical proficiency in assigned area Preferred: 1-3 years teaching experience Education Required: Masters in Nursing or BSN with experience in the specific clinical area in which assigned; Current licensure in TN Preferred: Masters in Nursing or post-masters preparation in nursing education; Clinical proficiency; Current TN licensure; Certification in area of clinical responsibilities
Additional Information
Physical Requirements: Work requires the physical ability to meet the demands of clinical experiences. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (lifting up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job. Environmental Requirements: Most work is performed under the conditions to be expected in a standard educational environment.
