About the role

The instructor will be responsible for teaching students in the Practical Nursing (PN) program, developing course outlines according to state standards, and evaluating student progress toward goals and objectives. Additional duties include maintaining program requirements, preparing documentation, and ensuring safety in training areas.

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as an adjunct Instructor in our Practical Nursing program. This position will also require evaluating student progress in attaining goals and objectives, attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and ensuring all safety and security requirements are met in training labs. Additional Duties include maintaining program certification requirements, preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports, attending workshops, and completing mandatory staff development training. This position is part-time/exempt.

Note

Position will require physical ability to move about or stand for long periods; Position also requires bending, stooping, reaching, and ability to safely lift up to 50lbs unassisted.

Please note the following information regarding this position

1. May be required to teach high school students 2. May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County) 3. May require travel

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in the PN program
  • Follow state standards in developing the program and course outlines, goals, and objectives
  • Evaluate student’s progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment
  • Develop teaching methods and maintain management procedures and documentation
  • Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas
  • Respond promptly to administrative requests
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts
  • Maintain program accreditation requirements as appropriate
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
  • General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Involvement in professional activities/organizations
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three years of practice as a licensed registered nurse within the preceding seven years
  • Current Georgia or eNLC (enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) RN License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Long-term care and hospital experience
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary education

Salary/Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

require an Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and at least three years of practice as a licensed registered nurse within the last seven years, holding a current Georgia or eNLC RN License. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and experience in long-term care, hospital settings, or post-secondary teaching.
