STEM Enrichment Specialists are responsible for designing and leading engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences for elementary students, ensuring activities are interactive, activity-based, and aligned with the DREAM curriculum. Originally founded in 1991 [https://wearedream.org/our-history/] as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Through our commitment [https://wearedream.org/our-whole-child-model/] to rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, deep family and community engagement, and health and wellness, we create lifelong learners who are equipped to fulfill their vision of success in and out of the classroom. We dream big, as well, with an aggressive five-year plan to expand to serve 3,500 students across seven schools [https://wearedream.org/explore-our-schools/]—growing our organization’s impact [https://wearedream.org/explore-our-outcomes/] and leveling the playing field for all children. STEM Enrichment Specialists design and lead engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences for elementary students that spark curiosity and a love of discovery. Instruction should be interactive and activity-based, giving students opportunities to experiment, build, and explore concepts in creative ways.
We are looking for instructors who can create dynamic lessons using accessible materials and simple experiments, while still delivering high-impact, engaging experiences for students. Activities may include building challenges, basic engineering projects, and interactive science explorations that support critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Specialists deliver 45 to 75 minute sessions to groups of 18–20 students in grades K–5, supported by two Youth Workers.
