Position Summary
Provides a safe and secure environment for children while engaging them in developmentally appropriate activities. Works as a team member with the specialist, lead teacher, and suite members.
Responsibilities
Works as a team member with specialist, teacher and suite members. Assists in developing class goals and objectives. Assists in planning and implementing activities for children based on developmentally appropriate practice. Monitors children's developmental progress. Maintains necessary records. Prepares teaching materials; arranges room and provides needed materials. Oversees maintenance of the environment and notifies supervisor when a work order needs to be submitted. Communicates daily with parents in either written or oral form. Conducts parent conferences. Prepares developmental assessments as children progress from the class. Provides for the safety and security of the children in the classroom. Assures children's physical needs are met consistently. Attends mandatory staff meetings and trainings when scheduled. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum Experience: One to three (1-3) years of childcare experience preferred. Maintain required training hours per DHS guidelines annually and as a new employee. Licensure Requirement: Infant-Child CPR and First Aid certification required or must be attained during employment. Renewed every three (3) years.
