$17.00 -$20.00/hourly

SUMMARY

The Assistant Teacher provides supervision to children ages 2 months - 5 years. This position is responsible for providing appropriate learning and recreational activities for children in that age range. The Assistant Teacher is expected to support the teacher in providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares and organizes age appropriate learning and recreational activities.
  • Collaborates with caseworkers and other staff to address childcare and other related issues.
  • Tracks daily sign-in sheets and maintains all other pertinent forms as required.
  • Maintains safety standards for childcare areas.
  • Ensures safe, hygienic, well-organized environment at all times.
  • Promptly reports possible child abuse or neglect to supervisor.
  • Supervises and interacts with children during recreational/learning activities.
  • Observes behavior of children. Identifies and reports concerns to supervisor.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.

Experience, education and special requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have experience with training and/or classes in early childhood education or CDA (child development program credential).
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with young children is required.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver’s license required for at least 2 years, vehicle a plus.
