The Swim Instructor II reports to the Aquatics Director and is responsible for teaching swim lessons across all age groups and skill levels, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and providing direct leadership and instruction. Responsibilities include creating and implementing lesson plans, teaching proper techniques, ensuring safety, monitoring behavior, and developing relationships with participants and colleagues.
Candidates must possess a YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent and be at least 17 years old, along with current CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications. A minimum of 6 months of previous experience working with students, strong swimming skills, and excellent communication abilities are required, with specific training deadlines for youth development principles and Y-USA Leader Certification post-hire.
