Job Description
Location: Blossom Valley Elementary School Address: 9863 Oakmont Terrace, El Cajon, CA Date Needed: Friday, March 20 Time: 2:15 PM – 4:15 PM We are seeking a reliable American Sign Language (ASL) Substitute / Backup Instructor to support an after-school enrichment program at Blossom Valley Elementary School. This instructor will step in when the primary instructor is unavailable and may also be contacted for future substitute opportunities. Position Overview The ASL Substitute Instructor will lead a fun, engaging introduction to American Sign Language for elementary school students. The instructor should be comfortable working with children and able to guide students through basic ASL signs, vocabulary, and simple conversations in an interactive learning environment.
Responsibilities
Lead an ASL enrichment class for elementary students Teach basic American Sign Language signs, vocabulary, and communication skills Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment Manage classroom behavior in a positive and professional manner Follow any provided lesson plans or activities from the primary instructor/program coordinator Arrive on time and prepared to lead the class
Qualifications
Experience with American Sign Language (fluency or strong working knowledge preferred) Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or enrichment setting Reliable and able to step in when needed Strong communication and classroom management skills Passion for teaching and engaging with students
Additional Information
This role is primarily for substitute / backup coverage but may lead to additional opportunities in future sessions.
