Important Notice This position is only open to residents who have matched into the South Texas Health System GME Program. Applicants must be part of the GME resident cohort provided to STHS through the national Match. External applicants will not be considered.

Position Summary

The Resident Physician is responsible for delivering high‑quality, compassionate patient care under the supervision of attending physicians while progressing through a structured graduate medical education program. This position is designed to meet Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies and training requirements, supporting the resident’s development in clinical practice, medical knowledge, professionalism, communication, and systems‑based care. The resident will participate in direct patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, didactic learning, and continuous quality improvement activities to build the skills and judgment needed for independent practice in their chosen specialty.

· Strong commitment to high‑quality patient care and the mission of graduate medical education. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively in a team‑based, multidisciplinary environment. · Demonstrated clinical reasoning, problem‑solving ability, and ability to perform in fast‑paced or complex clinical settings. · Capacity for self‑reflection, adaptability, professionalism, and a growth‑oriented learning mindset. · Completion of required medical education (MD/DO or equivalent) and eligibility for residency training as outlined by institutional and accreditation standards.
