About the role

The teacher provides academic instruction to adolescents with learning disabilities and behavioral mental health challenges within a residential treatment program. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary professional team to help residents heal from trauma and build resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Oak Plains Academy, (a UHS company) is seeking a dynamic and talented Licensed Teacher to join our team of professional employees.
  • Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 98-bed residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to adolescents, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs.
  • A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve.
  • Located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, Oak Plains Academy campus features a full-size gymnasium, dining hall, separate academic building, and four dormitories.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Hold a valid TN Teaching License. If licensed in other areas of Education, in order to teach Special Education you must obtain an endorsement within one year of accepting the position. Have experience in working with children with learning disabilities and or behavioral mental health concerns. Valid TN driver's license. ***This role requires a successful background check, fingerprinting and employment verification**
