The Teacher Assistant provides instruction, supervision, and support to students under the guidance of the school administration. This position is intended for individuals who are actively working toward teacher certification or serving in a teaching capacity. The Classroom Instructor Under the supervision of a professional with a special education teaching certification can assist with the delivery of lessons, managing the classroom, and supporting student learning in alignment with school policies and curriculum.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, stoop, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, twist, kneel, or crouch.
Occasional keyboarding and other skills will utilize hand, wrist, and fine motor coordination.
The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 30 pounds.
The employee must seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment includes classrooms and therapy spaces where noise levels are usually moderate but may be elevated at times.
