The Elementary Teacher will teach LifeWise classes using the provided curriculum while building relationships with students and maintaining an organized classroom environment. Responsibilities also include record keeping, communication with school personnel, and participation in training and community events.
Requirements summary
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience and a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith. Active participation in a local church is also required.
A LifeWise teacher will combine in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities to share the gospel with churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. Our ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching children. Job Description
Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
Teach LifeWise Classes
Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom
Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources

Maintain Records
Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to LifeWise program director and/or school officials as needed
Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips
Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed
Maintain the Classroom
Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom
Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
Communicate
Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available
Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program director
Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
