The Volunteer High School Teacher will teach LifeWise classes, prepare and implement the curriculum, and maintain an organized classroom environment. They will also build relationships with students and communicate with school personnel to ensure student well-being.
Requirements summary
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of teaching experience in a school or church setting. A mature personal Christian faith and active participation in a local church are also required.
LifeWise high school teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. Qualifications
and Experience
Bachelor's degree (required)
Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
Teach LifeWise Classes
Prepare and implement the for-credit high school curriculum provided by LifeWise
Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
Cultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature

Maintain the Classroom
Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote spiritual growth
Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
Know the procedures for handling emergency situations
Purchase classroom supplies as needed using using the funds provided by the program director
Communicate
Act as a LifeWise ambassador within the community
Attend events as available or requested by the program director
Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
