Job description

Radiologic Technologist - Orthopedics

Work Hours

  • Monday -
  • Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm)
  • *
  • no nights, weekends and holidays**

Main function

Under remote supervision, performs radiographic procedures as ordered by the physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Reports to Assistant Director of Radiology.

Duties: And responsibilities:

** 1. Produces radiographs according to established SOP's

1. Positions and transfers patients. 2. Provides immobilization devices as required. 3. Selects and operates equipment as directed. 4. Provides adequate radiation protection by shielding of patients and selection of proper exposure techniques. 5. Properly identifies images with patient information and position markers.

  • 2. Is responsible for daily restocking of procedure rooms with appropriate supplies and linen levels.

  • 3. Performs daily cleaning of radiographic equipment and accessories.

  • 4. Reports equipment that is damaged, non-functioning, or in need of repair the immediate supervisor.

5. Maintains compliance with HAZMET and Fire manuals. Notifies supervisor of any non-compliance issues.

6. Adheres to the Arnot Health Administrative Policy manual and to the HHMOB Policy and Procedure manual.

**7. Always wears ID badge and radiation badge, and practices good radiation safety techniques by adhering to the ALARA policy.

8. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude, and demonstrates compliance with Arnot Health dress code.

9. Assists as needed in all areas of the HHMOB Imaging Department whenever not performing radiologic technologist duties.

**10. Maintains a current NYS license.

  • Rotates between clinical procedure rooms and other Arnot Health radiology areas.

  • Provides age appropriate care to neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

Education

Current NYS Radiologic Technologist License. ARRT Certification.

Experience

2 years.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Cpr) requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.

Physical demands

Work requires walking, standing often in excess of 90% of the time. Work requires bending, stooping, reaching and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., moving patients. Work requires pushing stretchers and mobile x-ray equipment.

Exposure category

Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. But employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
